Serving Thousands Since 1985
One of the great privileges of serving in the U.S. Armed Forces is Space-A travel -- the use of military lodging on a space-available basis at hundreds of installations around the world.  The Worldwide Space-A Travel Handbook had its inception in 1985, when its original publisher asked an experienced Space-A traveler why he carried a notebook instead of one of the Space-A handbooks already in existence. Answer: No book covered all the essential information in a comprehensive, accurate format. The publisher offered to issue the traveler's notes in book form. The first edition appeared in December 1986.

We Listen to Our Readers
Through the years, the handbook has undergone format changes in response to input by readers. Charts, abbreviations, maps and even type sizes have been updated and refined to help make the handbook more useful and practical. The Worldwide Space-A Travel Handbook remains the smallest Space-A travel book available that contains details on all bases with Space-A facilities. Unlike other handbooks, it covers billets, flights, RV and camping all in one easy-to-reference manual.

Updating: A Never-Ending Challenge
Keeping the handbook current and accurate has proven to be a major challenge. Fortunately, the original author remains an active traveler and enjoys digging out changes. Although he remains our most prolific contributor, many others have joined in, including readers, to help make our handbook the most comprehensive of its kind. Unfortunately, because travelers sign statements attesting that they are not using Space-A for personal profit, it is impossible for us to hire and pay active travelers to obtain new information.

Bimonthly Updates Keep the Information Flowing
Once the latest edition of the Worldwide Space-A Travel Handbook is printed, updates and changes are inevitable. Therefore, we compile a bimonthly newsletter, the Space-A Travel Update, to distribute updated information quickly. Readers are encouraged to make contributions that will assist fellow travelers. We will credit contributors for anything published in the Space-A Travel Update and/or the Worldwide Space-A Travel Handbook (unless contributor specifies otherwise).
